Here’s what The HERD Winter Drumline has been up to. As you can see, there are some sparks flyin’ Due to the caliber of playing, we might need to add more rehearsal dates to accommodate for the group’s potential. Here’s a sneak peak.

Hi all!

Very excited to have gotten this season underway! The final pieces are falling into place and we are excited to announce the show entitled Transfusion: The Transfer of Energy. The show will begin with a heartbeat, and slowly but surely build into a high energy, edge of your seat percussion bonanza as the performers throw beats back and forth to convey the origin and transfer of energy. Remember, energy is never lost, it is only transferred. More to come including videos, photos, music and exercises. Hope everyone is bursting with energy as we propel ourselves further into what could very well be the catalyst in The HERD Winter Drumline program. Hope to see you all soon!

The HERD End Of The Season Picnic

Saturday, August 20, following the Montrose parade the HERD family will be celebrating the end to the marching season. The parade is at 2pm and then the students return to BHS and separate out the uniforms. Hopefully, they will be done shortly after 3:30pm for those needing a ride to the park. The meal will begin around 4pm. Hot dogs and some pulled meat sandwiches will be served.

See the list below for what each family should bring to share. Also remember your own plates, napkins, utensils, and LAWN CHAIRS. Please bring your own drinks too, but water coolers will available as well.

The picnic/participation awards/announcements, and board vote will all happen at Griffing Park. Two shelters are available for us to use. Be aware that we are near the swimming beach and kids can bring along suits if it’s a nice day. Parking is tight in this area. Families can always park at the middle school nearby and walk over. If it’s raining the picnic would be moved to the school (BHS).

Graduated Students – You will be our special guests and treated by the rest of the band families.

Update for River Falls Days 7-7-11

Well, today was a fine way to end our competitive season. This will be a brief blog because it is easy to summarize tonight’s performance. It was fantastic. There were only four high school bands in competition but you were first place in all three captions: Music, Marching and General Effect. In addition, you received the awards for Best Drumline, Best Winds, Best Color Guard, and Best Drum Majors, and were overall Grand Champions.

Overall Scores.

1. “The HERD” 83.9 your highest score of the season

2. Hastings 74.7

3. Amery 72.9

4. New Richmond 63.7

Congratulations on a great season. What a fantastic series of accomplishments.

On Saturday, July 16 from 1:30 PM far into the evening 25 of the top drum and bugle corps in the world will be competing at TCF Bank Stadium at the U of M. Tickets are between $30 and $60 and seats are still available at every price level. If you enjoy the marching arts and want to see the very best, you should check this out.
